Michael Henderlong

Managing Director

Michael Henderlong has been with Barings for 11 years and is the Global Head of Barings Capital Markets and Strategic Relationship Management team. His team has global responsibility for Barings’s counterparty relationships with banks, broker dealers, and peers, spanning across markets, investment banking, custodial, origination and fund and asset level financing functions. Michael has worked in the banking industry since 1995 and his experience includes fixed income sales/trading, distressed investing and leverage finance structuring. Prior to joining the firm in 2013, Michael was a managing director and 10-year veteran at Morgan Stanley and was Head of Leveraged Loan Sales and Distressed Sourcing. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he worked at Goldman Sachs as a vice president in their Distressed Debt Group. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Michael was Head of Loan Trading at Societe Generale. He started his banking career at Credit Lyonnais where he was an analyst in Credit Lyonnais’ Leveraged Finance Group and then moved on as a vice president to run loan trading.

Michael holds a BS in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and an MBA in finance from Fordham University Graduate School of Business. He currently sits on Barings’ Trading Practices & Counterparty Risk Committee, Hudson Farm Foundation Board of Directors, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Industry Advisory Board and Wake Forest University Parent’s Council. He also served on the Loan Syndications and Trading Association Board of Directors (LSTA) and Jefferies Finance LLC’s credit committee.
